Dues/Meal Costs change 12/1

With the first meeting in December, dues will change from $55/month to $20/month. The change does not include meals. Meals costs will remain at $10/meeting and will be paid at the beginning of each meeting for those who eat. The Sergeant-at-Arms will collect the fees at the door. Members may also charge meals with the Sergeant-at-Arms. Change reflects concerns of members who do not eat lunch or who question paying for meals when the member is absent. Dues increase from $13.15/month reflects rise in administrative costs and operating expenses.

Manteca Kiwanis enrolled in the Save Mart S.H.A.R.E.S. Program

The club’s application has been approved and the cards are being activated and will be sent to members just as quickly as possible. Each member gets a card and when they shop, they simply swipe the card and earn 3% of every qualified purchase. How it works Each time a card is swiped, S.H.A.R.E.S. points are issued to your organizations account. One S.H.A.R.E.S. point equals $1 on a qualified purchase. Your organization will receive a quarterly check for the amount earned at the rate of up to 3%. As soon as they start using the S.H.A.R.E.S. card, your organization starts earning S.H.A.R.E.S. points. There is no limit to how many people you can enroll. Security There is no cash value to the S.H.A.R.E.S. card, so no worries if it is lost. The card is issued in the name of the organization, so no personal information is needed or stored. Anyone that shops can use the card to earn S.H.A.R.E.S. points. Notes from the November Board Meeting

The Board is looking for suggestions and proposals to increase the number of revenue-generating events conducted by the club. Presently we are down to about three annual events, pancake breakfast, track & field meet, basketball tournament, and fireworks booth (The fireworks booth is not a guaranteed annual event.) We are receptive to hearing any suggestion, big or small,. Please submit your suggestions to Dave Soeth or Juli Rhodes, the committee members spearheading this endeavor. In the next couple of meetings, we will be getting back into the fining spirit, with the reinstatement of fines for birthdays, anniversaries, and new vehicle purchases. The only difference will be a set fine for each: $5 for birthdays and anniversaries, and $20 for new vehicle purchases. You may voluntarily pay more, if you wish, or are compelled to pay a larger sum by the membership. If a member does not disclose the event before being confronted by the president, the set fines will automatically double. We are looking for someone to be an interim Sergeant-of-Arms. It is an interim position at this point because we must amend the bylaws to create the position. When the position is created, it will be for a two-year term. The Sergeant-of-Arms will be responsible for collecting for meals at the beginning of each meeting, and collecting for Happys & Sads and fines during the meeting. All funds collected would be turned over to the Treasurer
Officers Meet City Personnel to Discuss Fireworks Ordinance Renewal

President Ben Cantu and President-Elect Dave Soeth met at fire station 1 on Wednesday with Chief Chris Haas and Randy Sutton to participate in a discussion to renew Manteca’s Legal Fireworks Ordinance. Some changes proposed for the new ordinance include dropping the $400 clean-up fee and replacing it with a $500 service fee which will off-set costs incurred by the fire department; this is in addition to Temporary Business License fee. Another change will be a “No-Carryover “ from the lottery; each year’s draw will be for the potential 14 slots available. Other ideas are under consideration and written suggestions will be considered before the proposed ordinance is presented to the City Council in late December or early January
